A 41-year-old man with an extensive violent criminal history suspected of sexually assaulting a woman he met through an online dating service was arrested in Moreno Valley, authorities said.
Deputies were dispatched to the area of Alessandro and Perris Boulevards in Moreno Valley at around 3:05 a.m. Sunday to a report about an assault with the intent to commit rape, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The victim told deputies that she met Marque Deshone Rogers through an online dating service and that he drove her behind a nearby business, held a knife to her neck, and demanded that she perform sexual acts on him moments before she managed to escape unharmed and dial 911, the sheriff's department said.
Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station investigators investigated several leads into the alleged sexual assault and identified Rogers as a person of interest.
According to the sheriff's department, Rogers' extensive criminal history prompted the Felony Warrant Extradition Team to take him into custody.
Rogers was arrested at his residence in Moreno Valley on Monday and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center, with a bail set at $1 million.
Anyone with information regarding the crime was urged to call Investigator Elizabeth Buck at the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station at 951-486- 6700.
