Multiple people displaced after Westlake house fire spreads to apartments

LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Firefighters battled a blaze at a vacant Westlake home that spread to two neighboring apartments early Monday morning.

It happened at 255 S. Reno Street around 1:15 a.m., Los Angeles Fire Department's Nicholas Prange said.

The department said the fire extended to two garden-style apartment buildings with central hallways located at 245 and 259 S. Reno.

It took over 150 firefighters 73 minutes to put out the fire.

One person was treated for minor smoke inhalation, Prange said, adding that there were no other injuries.

The fire displaced 56 people and the American Red Cross was called to assist them.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
