The next tier of people eligible to receive COVID vaccinations in California is on deck.
Starting Monday, people with preexisting medical conditions, disabilities and more groups of essential workers can all get their shots -- that includes LA County.
But some of the details about who is eligible, and what kind of documentation you'll need to provide to prove you're eligible might be a little different from county-to-county.
Dr. Jeffrey Luther, a member of the California Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors & a member of the California COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory Committee, says "What we learned yesterday from the state is that, as far as the Department of Health is concerned, people should not be required to bring an attestation of their disabling condition or their eligibility condition but just that they can self-attest." Luther says "there will always be people who want to gain the system or jump the queue."
Luther says as a reminder there are still people who are eligible but haven't been received it yet and the vaccine is a "precious commodity around the country and in California at least for the next few weeks."
At the present time, get enrolled if you are not already enrolled, according to Luther.
He says to find out when appointments are available to use the My Turn website: https://myturn.ca.gov/
