HOLLYWOOD (CNS) - A fiery vehicle crash that started in Hollywood and ended in West Hollywood killed a woman and injured two other women Monday morning.
The crash occurred about 2:30 a.m. on Sunset Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department's Operations Center confirmed.
The vehicle -- a Tesla X -- apparently crashed in Hollywood and came to fiery rest in West Hollywood, according to Lt. J. Aguirre of the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station.
A woman riding in the front passenger seat died at the scene, and two other women riding in the back seat were injured, according to the LAPD. Both injured women were taken to a hospital, one in stable condition and one in critical condition, the LAPD reported.
The male driver of the Tesla got out and was picked up and taken to a hospital by someone driving another vehicle, police said.
"Investigators found the driver at a local hospital," the LAPD said. "That driver is currently in critical condition and unable to be interviewed."
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses, they said.
Video from the scene showed the charred remnants of the vehicle and Los Angeles city firefighters dousing it with water. Los Angeles police officers and West Hollywood sheriff's deputies were sent to the scene.
Sunset Boulevard was closed in the area for the investigation and cleanup.
The impact was in Hollywood but the burning vehicle came to rest in the 8200 block of West Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, according to Lt. J. Aguirre of the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station.
Fox 11 video showed a canopy in the roadway and the station reported a man was killed and two women were critically injured
