One dead after argument turns into shooting outside Torrance bar

TORRANCE, Calif. (KNX) — One person has died in connection with a shooting outside of a Torrance bar in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Torrance police said an altercation prompted the shooting outside Hi N Dry Cocktails at around 1 a.m. Officers responded to the scene after reports of gunfire and found a 50-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with injuries.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he was later pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

According to police, several people were detained and one man was arrested in connection with the incident. The arrested party has not yet been publicly identified.

Torrance police had closed down lanes on 182nd Street from Glenburn avenue to Crenshaw Boulevard to investigate. The scene was still active as of 7 a.m.
