Pipe bomb detonates in San Diego hotel

SAN DIEGO (KNX) — Investigators were searching for suspects Friday morning after an explosive device detonated inside a hotel in San Diego’s Kearny Mesa neighborhood.

San Diego police responded to reports of a pipe bomb set off on the second floor of the Four Points Sheraton Hotel located at 8110 Aero Drive shortly after 10 a.m. on Thursday.

No injuries were reported, but the building sustained minor damage, police said.

There were no witnesses to the incident, but police have released images of two men they said were persons of interest. Detectives from the San Diego Police Department, the FBI, and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were jointly investigating the case.
