LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Police are seeking additional victims and witnesses after a man was arrested in connection to a series of sexual assaults in Southern California.
On Feb. 4, Benjamin Parke Belser, 36, was arrested on suspicion of rape, forced sodomy, forced oral copulation and sexual penetration with a foreign object for a series of sexual assaults stemming from 2017, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
On Tuesday, 12 felony counts were filed against Belser, who is in custody in lieu of $6.2 million bail.
Police said Belser allegedly targeted women via social media and dating apps where he “used elaborate ruses to conceal his identity.”
“On February 4, 2023, Detectives served a search warrant on his home in the Village Green community and recovered extensive evidence supporting the investigation and are still searching for additional information that could connect him to unreported crimes,” the department said.
Five woman believed to have been assaulted by Belser have been identified, but investigators say they’re looking for more.
