Police investigating fatal hit and run in Baldwin Hills

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department have asked for the public’s help in identifying one or more suspects responsible for a fatal hit-and-run collision in the Baldwin Hills area Friday.

The collision occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound on La Cienega Boulevard struck a male pedestrian who was lying down in the crossword at Obama Boulevard, police said.

The suspect then fled northbound on La Cienega without stopping or rendering aid, as required by law.

L.A. Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, where they pronounced the victim dead. The identity of the male victim was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Details regarding the make and model of the suspect’s car were not immediately available.

Police are offering a reward of up to $50,000 to community members that provide information leading to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of the suspect.
