BEVERLY HILLS (KNX) - Diners beware: a pair of thieves targeted a series of upscale Beverly Hills restaurants over the weekend, stealing purses from unsuspecting patrons.
Police say the suspects, a man and a woman, hit at least four restaurants last weekend. Posing as customers, they swiped expensive handbags off the backs of chairs while the victims were eating.
The director of security at one of the restaurants, who didn’t want to be identified, told KNX News that the crooks were well-dressed and looked like any other patrons.
“They are looking for high-end handbags, wallets … just anything that they can find that is of value, and [from] groups of people that, situational awareness is just not their strong suit,” he said.
Beverly Hills police said they were able to track down the pair in Fontana, where they were arrested on four counts of felony commercial burglary. Some of the stolen bags were recovered.
