LOS ANGELES (KNX) – A woman reported missing 45 years ago has been identified by the Riverside County Regional Cold Case Homicide Team.
The department announced on Friday that the remains found in 1986 belonged to Linda LaBeau Durnall.
Durnall was reported missing by her boyfriend to the Tustin Police Department in 1977.
Durnall’s skeletal remains were found in an embankment along the Ortega Highway in Lake Elsinore, and while investigators determined she was shot in the head, they couldn’t identify that it was Durnall.
In August 2021, the team exhumed bodies and skeletal remains in cold cases. Durnall’s skull was sent to a lab for the Department of Justice for possible DNA comparison, according to the press release.
The Regional Cold Case Homicide Team made up of members of the DA’s Office Bureau of Investigation, the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the FBI and the Riverside Police Department.
