Santa Clarita man arrested on suspicion of killing 2-month-old daughter

A 26-year-old father has been arrested on suspicion of murder and child abuse in connection with the death of his infant daughter.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on Sept. 26, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded to a call to a residence in the 18000 block of Grace Lane in the Canyon Country neighborhood of Santa Clarita. There, they found Marcel James Taylor performing CPR on his two-month-old daughter.

The child was transported to Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where she was pronounced dead three days later.

Investigators said an "exhaustive investigation" led to Taylor'sarrest. He was taken into custody on Thursday. He remains in custody, and will appear in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday for arraignment.
