ONTARIO, Calif. (KNX) - Police in Ontario say three victims have come forward, accusing a 72-year-old man of molesting them as children.
Margaret Carrero with KNX News reports - Philbert Hernandez is accused of molesting numerous children over several decades. At the time of the alleged assaults, Hernandez worked as a photographer, employed by several firms across Southern California, at least one of which was contracted to take student portraits.
Ontario Police Sgt. Melissa Ramirez tells KNX Hernandez did not meet his victims through work. He did, however, know them personally prior to the attacks.
Sgt. Ramiez says one of the victims alleges that Hernandez molested her from when she was about five years old until she was in her late teens.
Police began their investigation into Hernadez in late May of 2022 after discovering several child molestation cases occurred in the City of Ontario.
Detectives arrested Hernandez without incident on Dec. 27. He is currently in custody at West Valley Detention Center in San Bernardino County on child sexual abuse charges.
At this point in the investigation, it is unclear which schools Hernandez potentially had access to.
