MALIBU, Calif. (KNX) — A group of hikers who got lost while hiking in Malibu Creek State Park Monday were rescued by helicopter, according to authorities.

A 911 call was made after 4 p.m. on Monday, prompting a Los Angeles County Fire helicopter to search the area for the seven hikers.

The group had difficulty finding their way back after hiking a trail and began to panic when they saw they were losing daylight, L.A. County Fire supervising fire dispatcher Ed Pickett told The Los Angeles Times.

“It took us a little while to find them — about half an hour,” Pickett said, adding rescuers were assisted by technology that pinpoints a caller’s latitude and longitude.

The group was located near an area once used as a film set for the show “M*A*S*H,” according to Pickett.

The hikers had to be hoisted out in two groups. None of the hikers reported injuries, Pickett told the publication.
