
LOS ANGELES (KNX) — An investigation is underway into a shooting involving Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies in East Los Angeles early Friday morning.
The incident was reportedly shortly before 4 a.m. in the 5700 block of Whittier Boulevard, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. Deputies responded to the area after receiving reports of someone trying to set objects on fire near a gas station.
There, they identified an adult male and female on the scene as suspects. An altercation ensued and esclated, resulting in at least one deputy opening fire, striking the male.
The man was taken to an area hospital in an unknown condition. The woman was later declared dead at the scene, according to LASD, but it was not known how she died.
A deputy involved reportedly suffered facial injrueis at some point during the confrontation and was treated at a local hospital.
