Calabasas, Calif. (KNX) - Steven Rude of Calabasas is a social activist, a community organizer, and has been a School Psychologist with LAUSD for over 30 years.
He works with students at The Lokrantz Special Education Center, a school for children in grades 1-12 who need the support of a walker or wheelchair to move around due to significant disabilities.

Steven says, "Most students are non-verbal with significant social and intellectual delays, having Autism or other significant delays intellectually and physically."
You may think this admirable career would be enough to earn the title of KNX Hero of the Week, but Steven doesn't stop there.
His extracurricular hero-ing is impacting our community in a lot of ways! For instance - he started the Garden at the Lokrantz Special Education Center—a community garden for the students and their families to enjoy.

The list of projects and programs he's been involved with is long - and growing.
He tells KNX reporter Heather Jordan, "Much of my motivation to help others was established when I was a student at Loyola High School, where we are taught to be 'men for and with others.'"
