RIVERSIDE (CNS) - Riverside County sheriff's investigators Wednesday were asking for the public's help identifying additional suspects in a seven-month robbery series that has already led to the arrests of 17 men, women and teenagers from throughout the Inland Empire.
The takeover robberies began in October and continued into last month, with the suspects targeting electronics outlets to steal mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, according to sheriff's Sgt. Jonathan Bodnar.
"Ten adults and seven juvenile suspects were arrested in multiple counties," Bodnar said.
Three Riverside County residents were among the alleged robbers -- Kavana Rodriguez, 19, of Riverside, Brian Roman, 24, of Moreno Valley, and Eddie Darrell Thompson, 19, of Banning.
Roman and Thompson were booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of robbery in March. Roman posted a $50,000 bond and was released, and Thompson posted a $30,000 bond and was released, according to jail records.
Rodriguez was not booked into jail for unspecified reasons.
Bodnar said that multiple robberies occurred in Jurupa Valley and Lake Elsinore. However, others happened in communities in all parts of San Bernardino County, and some in Los Angeles County.
The Riverside and San Bernardino County sheriff's departments, along with the San Bernardino Police Department and other agencies, conducted a unified investigation.
Bodnar said the sheriff's Special Enforcement Team is continuing to gather information and attempting to identify additional suspects. Anyone with information was asked to contact the unit at 951-245-3300.
