LOS ANGELES (KNX) – A wrong-way collision left one man dead and three others critically injured Friday morning.

It happened just before 3 a.m. on the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway at Exposition Boulevard, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol told City News Service.

Officers said a Chevy Cruze was traveling south in the northbound lane and slammed into a taxi head-on.

The driver of the taxi was killed. The Los Angeles County coroner's office identified him as Ken Balayev, 71, of Calabasas.

His passenger as well as the two people inside the Chevy Cruze were hospitalized in critical condition.

Following the crash, all northbound lanes to downtown Los Angeles were closed. They reopened around 6 a.m.
