Los Angeles (KNX) - A 17-year-old boy died over the weekend after falling in an attempt to climb the Sixth Street bridge, police said Tuesday.
LISTEN:
L.A. Police Chief Michael Moore says the teen was climbing one of the arches for an apparent social media post when he slipped and fell to his death.
The boy's body was found at about 2:00 AM on Saturday; he was then taken to USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Since the Sixth Street viaduct opened last year, it has been the scene of many dangerous stunts, including street takeovers.
In January, a man was shot to death while filming a music video in the bridge's spiral pedestrian ram that connects foot traffic up to the bridge from Mission Road.
Chief Moore said his office will continue patrolling the area around the bridge to counter future reckless actions such as this.
