LOS ANGELES (KNX) – The search is underway for a suspect or suspects after two people were stabbed at or near the LA Metro Red Line in separate attacks on Thursday.
LISTEN:
The first attack happened just before 5 p.m. at the Metro Hollywood/Western Station, the Los Angeles Police Department said. The suspect took off shortly after. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.
There was a brief interruption in service on the Metro B (Red) Line, LA Metro said.
The second attack occurred on 600 S. Alvarado Street around 8:20 p.m., according to KCAL.
LAPD officer Annie Moran told KNX the victim was severely injured.
“He became involved in a verbal dispute with the suspect and the suspect produced a weapon and stabbed the victim,” she said.
The victim’s current condition is unknown at this time.
The suspect in that attack was last seen on the Red Line train going toward North Hollywood.
It’s unclear if the same suspect was involved in both stabbings.
It comes as Metro is working to increase security, including the addition of 300 transit ambassadors to keep an eye out for crime.
