LOS ANGELES (KNX) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has asked for the public’s help in identifying the perpetrator of a shooting attack in Lancaster.
The suspect allegedly opened fire on an unsuspecting driver, Jason Castillo, near the intersection of Challenger Way and Avenue K in the early hours of Dec. 3. Investigators believe that during the shooting, both drivers “crashed into each other,” and that the suspect was “ramming into the victim’s vehicle,” according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

Castillo was wounded in the initial shooting, then fled to a nearby gas station to call 911. The shooter followed Castillo in his white, four-door BMW — possibly a 3 series with tinted windows and gray rims with front-end damage. Video surveillance showed him exiting the car and opening fire once again.
Castillo was on the phone with a 911 operator and lying on the ground, explaining that he had been shot, when the suspect approached him and shot more rounds into his head.

Castillo survived the encounter, though remains in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s department.
At the time of the shooting, the suspect was wearing a green t-shirt, black shorts, white socks, and a black baseball cap. No other identifying details were confirmed by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department at this time.
The L.A. County Board of Supervisors and city of Lancaster have offered a $20,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call L.A. County Sheriff’s Det. James Phillips at (661) 948-8466 or (310) 601-6064. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous may cal the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
