Santa Clarita, Calif. (KNX) - Valencia High School in Santa Clarita was placed on lockdown Friday at around 11:00 AM due to an altercation that occurred on campus.

According to information provided on the school website, two students were involved in a fight that led to injuries, including one student being stabbed with a No. 2 pencil. The school was quickly placed on lockdown, and law enforcement and paramedics arrived on the scene.

Despite initial rumors, no firearm was involved, and there is no longer any threat to the school. The lockdown has been lifted, and a team of counselors is on-site to provide support to students and staff.

According to the sheriff's department, the altercation involved two 15- year-old boys. The one who was stabbed suffered a "puncture wound" and was taken to a hospital and was considered stable.

The other teen was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and taken to Sylmar Juvenile Hall, according to the sheriff's department.

It was unclear what sparked the altercation.
