LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass isn’t expected to formally announce exactly how she’ll house 17,000 homeless people until late March. Despite that her Inside Safe initiation had an apparent unofficial launch this week in Venice.

A total of 22 people living in tents accepted housing during outreach efforts on Wednesday and Thursday.

“They are safe.  They have a warm bed.  They can get connected to services,” says council member Traci Park, who represents CD-11.

Park tells KNX of everyone offered housing nobody refused services.

Up to 1,500 people living in tents are in need of housing in Venice.  “The scale of this problem is significant,” Park says.

Each Friday you’ll hear the KNX Original Series: “Tracking the First 100 Days.”  The reports from KNX reporter Craig Fiegener follow work by the Bass administration to begin fulfilling the new mayor’s campaign promises.
