The Writers Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers will return to the bargaining table on Friday.

“Carol Lombardini has asked the WGA Negotiating Committee to meet with AMPTP negotiators on Friday,” the WGA said in a message to members. “We expect the AMPTP to provide responses to WGA proposals. Our committee returns to the bargaining table ready to make a fair deal, knowing the unified WGA membership stands behind us and buoyed by the ongoing support of our union allies. “

The WGA and AMPTP previously met on Aug. 4, but couldn’t come to an agreement to resume negotiations.

Aug. 9 marked the 100th day of the writers' strike.

Comedian and actor Brad Garrett reacted to the news by telling KNX News’ Craig Fiegener on the Culver City picket line “That’s incredible! See, that’s what it’s about! It all starts with the writers. We can’t do without the writers, they can’t do without the actors. Let’s make this happen.”

L.A. Mayor Karen Bass told KNX News' Craig Fiegener she was personally working to get both unions to return to the bargaining table, adding that she was "keeping in constant communication with everyone."

“I don’t believe it will go another hundred days. I do not. It really cannot go another hundred days,” she said. “You think about the entertainment industry and the rippling effect in our economy."

Gov. Gavin Newsom previously offered to help mediate talks between the studios and the writers.
