Firefighters are getting a handle on a 5.8-acre wildfire in the Santa Anita Canyon area near Arcadia.

Crews have been battling the Chantry Fire since Sunday afternoon. By Monday morning, the fire was 50% contained, officials said.

Angles Nation Forest spokesperson Dana Dirks told KNX News the steep and rocky terrain has been a challenge for fire crews.

“U.S. Forest Service, L.A. County Fire Department, Sierra Madre, and Arcadia fire departments are assisting at this time,” she said.

Dirks said there’s currently an evacuation order for the Chantry Flat area of the forest, which includes a small number of recreational cabins, pack houses, and some employee residences.
