"Amounts are generally light, but there will be a wide range due to the showery nature," NWS Los Angeles shared in a tweet. "Impactful low elevation snows will impact most mountain roads."

Caltrans District 7, which represents both L.A. and Ventura Counties tweeted Tuesday that the wintry conditions are expected to impact most mountain roads, including Interstate 5 at the Grapevine, State Route 33 in north Ventura County and State Route 14 in the Antelope Valley.

As of 4:54 p.m. Tuesday, snow flurries were already beginning on Interstate 5 just south of the Grapevine, according to Caltrans.

Light rain is expected to hit lower elevations, with between one and three inches of snow falling in areas above 2,000 feet. Drivers who must continue on the affected routes are being asked to plan ahead and check quickmap.dot.ca.gov for conditions before leaving.

Further east, officials with Caltrans District 8 said they are expecting the wintry conditions to also impact mountain roads in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
