Firefighters were sent to the 1400 block of West 81st Street about 9:45 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man apparently was unloading a "skid steer loader" from the truck when he became trapped beneath it, the LAFD reported. A skid steer loader is an item of industrial equipment with hydraulic lifting arms, often used in grading projects.

Cal-OSHA was notified, and the circumstances of the death were under investigation
