EAST LANSING (WWJ) – A suspect remains at large after a shooting killed three people and injured at least five other people on the campus of Michigan State University on Monday night.

Police officials say the shooting happened around 8:18 p.m. at Berkey Hall and soon moved to the nearby MSU Union, where a secondary shooting was reported. The suspect was last seen leaving the union on foot.
Officials have not released any information about the victims. Authorities said some of the victims who were taken to Sparrow Hospital had life-threatening injuries.
Police are still asking the campus community to shelter in place as they search for the suspect, described as a Black male wearing dark pants, red shoes, a dark hat and a jeaned jacket.
Students received an alert from the school around 8:30 p.m. telling them to "Run, Hide, Fight," according to posts on social media. School officials said in a statement the shooting happened inside Berkey at 8:18 p.m.
MSU Public Safety officials said around 9 p.m. the suspect was "believed to be on foot right now. Community members on and off campus should continue to shelter in place. Police are continuing to respond."
Officials later said on Twitter a second shooting is believed to have happened at IM East, with multiple people injured.
In an update, MSU police officials said "IM East is being secured. It appears there is only one suspect at this time."
Authorities are still asking the community to shelter in place and said they are "still receiving multiple calls of an active shooter on campus," as of 9:56 p.m.
The FBI is assisting police on campus.
Officials said victims are being taken to Sparrow Hospital. It was not clear how many victims.
Brody Hall, Snyder/Phillips Hall, Mason Hall, Abbot Hall, Landon Hall, the MSU Union, and Berkey Hall have all been cleared/secured, MSU Police and Public Safety officials said at 10:10 p.m.
Police plan to hold a press conference with the latest updates at 11 p.m. at the Henry Center for Executive Development on Forest Road in Lansing.
All campus activities are canceled for at least 48 hours, including MSU's basketball game against Minnesota on Tuesday, all other athletics events, classes, and all campus-related activities, according to MSU police.
"As police handle the incident at MSU there is going to be a lot of guessing and rumors," Michigan State Police said on Twitter. Follow @msupolice for the most accurate information. As of right now they want people to shelter and remember the principles of Run Hide Fight. Adding to the speculation helps no one."
