American Airlines regional carriers offering triple-pay for some pilots during July

Two of American Airlines' regional carriers are offering triple-pay to pilots during critical parts of July for those willing to fly during their scheduled time off.

Reports say the bonuses will be offered to pilots at Piedmont Airlines and Irving-based Envoy Air.

Regional carriers like these are more short-staffed than ever because of the rash of retirements at the major airlines over the past couple of years.

When those companies need to replace the retirees, they tend to hire from the pool of pilots staffing their regional partners.
