LOS ANGELES (KNX) – Britney Spears’ book is underway!

The popstar confirmed the news Monday in a now-deleted post on her Instagram, calling the process “therapeutic.”

“Well I'm writing a book at the moment and as it's actually healing and therapeutic... it's also hard bringing up past events in my life ... I've never been able to express openly !!!” Spears wrote.

“I can only imagine that I do sound childish but I was extremely young when those events took place ... and addressing it now ... I'm sure it seems irrelevant to most and I'm completely aware of that !!!”

She went on to say she planned to take an “intellectual approach”, citing ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s apology to her and Janet Jackson “20 years later.”

She then called out her mother, Lynne, and sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, for writing their own books while she was under her conservatorship.

“My mom and sister also did the ‘intellectual approach’ in indulgence by writing their own books as I couldn’t even get a cup of coffee or drive my car or really anything!!!” she added.

In the post, Spears also compared her conservatorship to a “cult” and recalled two stories of how she was “left powerless.” One of those instances being the time she went to pick up items at a Louisiana Target during COVID-19 and was told by security she couldn’t get out of the car.

“So sorry if I’ve offended anyone by writing these stories … but just as my sister can legally mention my name in her book over 200 times … cry on TV … and get a heartfelt ‘awww’ from most … I also have the right to share a couple of paragraphs on my Instagram … Anyways, Godspeed my friends,” Spears concluded.

It was announced in February that Spears signed a $15 million deal with Simon & Schuster. The book will chronicle her conservatorship, family and career.

A release date has not been announced.
