ANAHEIM, Calif. (KNX) - Disney-owned theme parks have seen their share of dust-ups this past year. Enough that the organization is taking action - in the form of a courtesy warning found on each park's official website.
KNX reporter Nataly Tavidian spoke with Robert Niles, editor, and founder of Theme Park Insider, to find out what it all means.
Robert believes it should be common sense, "It's something that Disney shouldn't have to say. It should be obvious ... that you're supposed to be nice to other people and not pick fights with them," he says. Still, the track record of violent events occurring on Disney properties says otherwise.
And it's not just here in California. Robert tells KNX they've added the warning to the Disney World resort in Florida website as well. "Disney apparently has decided that it needs to remind people to behave when they are in public," says Robert.
The message might seem like an inadequate response; however, Robert believes the individual investment a trip to one of the parks takes may be enough to get everyone to buy-in.
"This is a big investment for a lot of people. A lot of people want to protect that investment by making sure that they're not surrounded by people who are having a bad time."
The wording on the Disney website says, in part, "We ask all who come to this happy place to treat others with respect, kindness, and compassion."
