Dole Fresh Vegetables is issuing a second recall of packaged salads due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall includes 72 different Dole-branded and private label packaged salad products sold in 37 states.

The recalled products contain iceberg lettuce that was processed at Dole's Springfield, Ohio and Soledad, California production facilities.

Products subject to the recall are identified by a product lot code beginning with the either the letter "W" or "B" in the upper right-hand corner of the package, and a "Best if Used By" date between December 22, 2021 and January 9, 2022.

The recalled salad was sold under brand names including Dole, HEB, Kroger, Little Salad Bar, Marketside and President's Choice. Click here to see a full list of products.

Recalled salad items from the Springfield facility were distributed in the states of Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Recalled salad items from the Soledad facility were distributed in the states of Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

Consumers who still have any of these products in their refrigerators are urged not to consume the product and to discard it immediately.

No illnesses have been reported with the products being recalled to date.

The recall was issued after equipment used in the harvesting of iceberg lettuce was tested by Dole and found to contain Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Last month, Dole recalled more than 100 "ready-to-eat" salad products that were linked to two deaths and 16 illnesses, also because of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The outbreak investigation is still ongoing.
