Whether it was worth $44 billion is in the eye of the beholder, but six months after his purchase of social media goliath Twitter, billionaire Elon Musk is now the “most-followed” user of the app.
Musk’s collection of followers has grown by over 20% since he purchased the app back in October.
In order to take over the #1 spot, Musk moved past pop star Justin Bieber and former President Barack Obama, who now sits as the runner-up.
As far as the other things he has accomplished since taking the reins of the social media giant, Musk’s policies have often been met with mixed reactions at best.
His implementation of turning the app’s vaunted “blue-check” system into a service anyone can pay for will move to its next phase this weekend when the “legacy” blue-checks that were handed out under the previous ownership regime as a way of verifying “official” accounts of news outlets and celebrities will be eliminated.
Musk also reinstated a slew of accounts that had been banned for various violations in the past, including the account belonging to former President Donald Trump, and cut about 70% of the company’s staff.
