It's time to check your freezer. The USDA has announced a massive recall of frozen beef bowls that could make some people extremely sick.
The recall includes more than 22,000 pounds of "Healthy Choice POWER BOWLS Korean-Style Beef" that were misbranded with undeclared allergens.
According to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service, the bowls include a "chicken sausage and pepper product" that contains milk, which is not declared on the packaging.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
Affected bowls were packaged in 9.25-oz. cartons with a lot number of 5246220320 and a use-by date of 04-18-2023. The products also bear establishment number 34622 on the end flap of the carton.
The items were shipped to retail locations nationwide. Stores that sold the products were not identified.
The recall was issued after the manufacturer, Texas-based Valley International Cold Storage Acquisition, received complaints from consumers that the Korean-Style Beef cartons actually contained a chicken-based product.
No reports of injury or adverse reactions have been linked to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
Anyone with a recalled product should discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
