LOS ANGELES (KCBS-FM) — The holiday season is all about tradition, and for many families, that means watching beloved Christmas movies.
While new Christmas movies are released every year, it seems it’s the traditional classics that most gravitate towards year after year. Now, a new map has gone viral showing each state’s favorite Christmas movie.

While the classics are mostly represented, there are a few nuggets that you might find surprising.
Language learning app Preply got into the holiday spirit this year by conducting a study to see what the most popular movies were in each state. The results were found by looking at search trends for “115 of the highest-rated and highest-grossing holiday movies of all-time, according to Rotten Tomatoes and Box Office Mojo.”
While classics like "Home Alone" and "Elf" made the cut, the top choice in most states was Tom Hanks' 2004 animated-film "The Polar Express."
"The Polar Express" was the top choice in sven states, including Texas, Georgia and Arizona.
California, Nevada and New Mexico picked "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
as their favorite, Oregon loves "The Christmas Chronicles" and Washington is all about "Klaus."
