
BOSTON (WEEI) — According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington, Tom Brady is retiring from the NFL after 22 seasons.
Brady and Tampa Bay's season came to an end last Sunday with a loss to the Rams in the NFC divisional round.
But according to Sports Illustrated writer Michael Silver, Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht said Brady told him he has "yet to make a final decision on retirement."
Brady's agent, Don Yee, neither confirmed nor denied the news, but said an announcement from the quarterback himself was forthcoming.
"I understand the advance speculation about Tom's future. WIthout getting into the accuracy or inaccuracy of what's being reported, Tom will be the only person to express is plans with complete accuracy," he told Schefter. "He knows the realities of the football business and planning calendar as well as anybody, so that should be soon."
The 44-year-old will retire a seven-time Super Bowl champion, five-time Super Bowl MVP, three-time NFL MVP, 15-time Pro Bowler, six-time All-Pro and is the NFL's all-time passing leader.
Brady will end his career playing 20 seasons with New England and two in Tampa Bay where he won a Super Bowl in his first season at the age of 43.
Over his 22 seasons, he reached the Super Bowl in 10 of them.
He will go down as not only one of the best football players of all time, but athletes as well.
