SANTA ANA, Calif. (KNX) — Ahead of a second storm in the Southern California region, Orange County officials issued Wednesday a voluntary evacuation warning that will take effect at 8 a.m. Thursday.

The warning affects Williams and Modjeska canyons in the Bond Fire burn area, due to potential flooding and debris flows from the pending storm.

“Canyon residents are strongly encouraged to prepare and evacuate on Thursday at 8:00 a.m., especially those with disabilities, access and/or functional needs, and canyon residents with large animals,” the county said.

Beginning Thursday morning, several streets in the area will be restricted to only local traffic beginning at 8 a.m., according to City News Service.

In addition to the evacuation warning, the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the same burn scar area in effect from 7:00 p.m. Thursday until noon on Friday, city officials said in a statement.

The county’s voluntary evacuation warning is expected to be in place through the Flash Flood Watch.

This weeks watches and warnings come just one week after severe flooding trapped some Silverado residents in their homes, forcing closures of canyon roads and leading to firefighter rescues.
