One of former President Donald Trump’s final directives from his only term in the White House called for the testing of nuclear energy on the moon.
Trump also inquired about developing a nuclear-powered spacecraft, which would orbit the Earth and the moon, according to reports on “Space Policy Directive-6.”
The directive was issued by Trump in December of 2020 and stated the ex-President’s desire for the testing of nuclear energy on the moon by 2027.
Meanwhile, Trump had previously directed NASA, the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy in January 2020, via Executive Order 13972, to look into both the cost and the technical feasibility of powering spacecraft and satellites with nuclear energy.
The spacecraft in question would be earmarked for deep space missions light years away from Earth.
