The United States Postal Service is rolling out their Operation Santa program.

The program allows people to answer the letters that children across the U.S. write to Saint Nick and ship them the perfect gift to fulfill their Christmas dreams.

"The season of giving is here, and the Postal Service is putting out the call for kind-hearted, generous people across the country to sign up to adopt letters to Santa," USPS said in a statement.

Letters will be available for adoption starting November 28.

Participants will be able to "read through the posted letters and choose one or more to fulfill" until December 19.

"USPS Operation Santa relies solely on random acts of kindness and the generosity of strangers," the agency said. "For 110 years, the program has provided some extra magic to those in need during the holiday season."

Those interested in adopting letters can go to USPSOperationSanta.com, create an account and have their identities verified to help fulfill the holiday wishes of children and families who have written to Santa.

If you have a little one who wants to participate in the program, mail their letter to Santa in an envelope addressed to: 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888. Don't forget to include your return address.

"These letters are opened by Santa's elves and, for safety reasons, all personally identifiable information in the letter (such as last names, school names, addresses, ZIP Codes) is removed before the letters are uploaded for adoption," USPS said.

Once a letter is adopted, the participant will receive a QR code to be scanned at the Post Office, so the clerk can retrieve the necessary information and place the shipping label on the package. Participation in Operation Santa requires adopters pay for shipping.

"Both those who write letters and the people who answer them are kept anonymous to protect participant privacy and preserve the spirit of Santa," USPS said.

Gifts need to be mailed by December 19 so they can reach their destination in time for Christmas.
