A Connecticut woman turned herself in after police discover a gruesome menagerie of over two dozed dead and abused animals in her home.
After Donna Scirocco’s neighbors complained of a putrid stench coming from her home, animal control officers were granted a search warrant.
Police Capt. Ronald Smith confirmed to FOXLA that officials found 26 cats, six dogs, two caged squirrels and a blind owl. Additionally, there were two large rats, two dead cats and a dead woodchuck.
Health officials condemned the property, Smith said.
Scirocco, 59, posted a $5,000 bond and was ordered to appear in court Feb. 5.
Most of the animals were allegedly neglected and mistreated. Many of those found by officials had to be euthanized.
