BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR, MEXICO (KNX) - Two Americans were found dead in a hotel room in Baja California Sur, Mexico, according to ABC News.
The Baja California Sur Attorney General's office told the outlet that John Heathco, 41, and Abby Lutz, 28, were found dead at Rancho Pescadero in El Pescadero Tuesday night. The two were found unconscious in their room and were pronounced dead by the time paramedics arrived.
The attorney general’s office said an autopsy revealed the two died due to poisoning “by a substance to be determined without traces of violence in the body.”
A GoFundMe for Lutz said carbon monoxide poisoning is believed to be the couple’s cause of death.
“We have been told it was due to improper venting of the resort and could be Carbon monoxide poisoning,” they said.
It was also revealed Lutz and Heathco were previously hospitalized for what they thought was food poisoning, but that they reported feeling better a few days later.
