HOLLISTER, Calif. (KNX) – A 19-year-old was arrested for driving under the influence after he crashed into a Hollister cemetery Wednesday morning.

Hollister police said the driver, identified as 19-year-old Tonatzil Montoya, drove into the Hillcrest Cemetery, according to KRON-4.
It’s unclear what exactly happened; however, police said Montoya’s car rolled into a field of gravesites, damaging a dozen or more” sites and monuments.
Montoya had a blood alcohol content of .18%, Hollister police said.
The department said Montoya will have a court hearing and will pay restitution, adding that the gravesites and monuments will be repaired.
“There is no humor here. Only irony. Because if people don’t get the message, they will end up in the cemetery, or worse yet, put someone else there,” police said.
