NAPA COUNTY, Calif. (KCBS) — A Bay Area grandfather is in critical condition after being shot in the face while driving down Highway 29 in Napa County.
Robert Abreu was airlifted to a hospital Friday morning after being "brutally" shot while commuting to work, Abreu's daughter Brittney Abreu wrote in a GoFundMe post.

"While driving his truck, Robert was shot in the face through his rear passenger side window by the reckless driver that was unknown in relation to him, a total stranger," Brittney wrote.
Abreu was able to pull over and call 911 for help.
Abreu's family started the GoFundMe page to raise money for their grandfather's surgery and pay for his medical bills, as Abreu is uninsured.
"This tragedy has not only nearly taken his life but has put a dire financial burden on him," his daughter said. The family hopes that the money raised will help Abreu focus his energy on recovery and healing.

He is a father to three daughters and a grandfather to six grandchildren.
Friday afternoon, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 42-year-old man for attempted murder, carjacking, and felon in possession of a firearm.
Tuong Nguyen was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections, where he is being held without bail.

Police have not yet confirmed if Abreu's shooting and Nguyen's arrest are related.
