Police: Hanford man dead after argument with brother

HANFORD, Calif. (KNX) – A late-night argument between two Hanford brothers turned deadly on Wednesday, police said.

Officers with the Hanford Police Department responded to the 1400 Block of W Sidonia just before 12:40 a.m. in response to a call of two people fighting in the street.

Upon arriving, the found 29-year-old Steve Desoto lying on the street with “major injuries to his face and head.”

He was taken to the hospital where he died.

Detectives contacted Desoto’s brother, Elias, who officers said claimed responsibility for what happened to his brother. It was revealed the two went out drinking, got into an argument, and then got into a physical fight which led to Desoto’s death.

The 23-year-old was booked into Kings County Jail on homicide charges, officials said.

The case is still under investigation.
