Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a bill meant to speed up affordable housing projects and other developments.
It streamlines California Environmental Quality Act timetables for approval and litigation that otherwise would stall these projects.
"This bill represents the best of California. Our values are part and parcel of this package, this effort to reform, to sequence investment with a little bit more predictability," Newsom says.
The governor says the bill will create good jobs and help boost the state's economic recovery.
He says many development projects including down here in the LA area have been waiting for this bill to become law so they can move forward in a timely manner.
