ANAHEIM, Calif. (KNX) – Local 50, the union representing Disneyland employees, announced Disney would continue a vaccine mandate for the employees.
“We have received notice, after months of good faith negotiations on the matter, that the company will be moving forward on a vaccine mandate for Local 50 and other Union's not currently under a mandate,” the union wrote on its Facebook page.
The deadline for vaccine verification is set for April 11,
The union also noted that medical and religious accommodations would be available.
According to Deadline, Local 50 Steward Chris Shivley wrote on the union’s Facebook page that “(the union) requested that they also require guests to show proof of vaccination or a negative test and Disney said no.”
The current guidelines for Disneyland are that guests who enter the park will not be required to show proof of vaccination, but that those who are vaccinated “must self-attest that they are in compliance prior to entry”. Guests who are not fully vaccinated “must receive a negative COVID-19 test prior to entering the Disneyland Resort.”
In July, Disney required all nonunion employees to get the COVID-19 vaccines, but when unions asked that park guests be mandated as well, Disneyland declined.
