Netflix is the latest to hop on the Britney Spears conservatorship train. Confirming the rumors they’d been working on something on Tuesday, Netflix revealed an 18-second teaser of the doc titled "Britney vs Spears," followed by a full trailer on Wednesday.

The trailer suggests, what we all already know, that Britney has been trying to get out of her conservatorship for more than a decade. But as fans of the superstar know, it wasn't until this year that Britney's desires came to fruition - when her father Jamie Spears finally submitted a petition to end the conservatorship.

Directed by Erin Lee Carr, the project will focus on the conservatorship and how someone close to it leaked the details of a confidential report to a so-far unnamed person.

It is still unclear if Spears, herself, will appear in the project, given how closely guarded she has been from media opportunities throughout the course of her conservatorship, according to Variety.

Carr comes to the Spears project after having worked with Netflix on "How to Fix a Drug Scandal" and with HBO on "I Love You, Now Die: The Commonwealth vs. Michelle Carter," both of which are documentaries that saw her navigating the legal system, courtrooms and delicate subject matter.

She's also known as the author of the memoir "All That You Leave Behind" and is the daughter of acclaimed journalist and author David Carr.

As mentioned earlier, Netflix isn’t setting the trend on the Britney Spears documentary front by any means. Despite reports of it being in the works for over a year, Hulu’s “Framing Britney Spears,” distributed in collaboration with FX as part of “The New York Times Presents” series which focused around the #FreeBritney movement, was the first of such on the scene.

As we all very well know by now, Britney was first placed under a conservatorship in 2008 after being hospitalized for psychiatric treatment. Jamie was given almost full control of her financial and medical affairs. But in 2019, Britney was appointed a temporary co-conservator to manage such care, while her father remained a co-conservator of her estate. Which was around when the very public legal battle began.

Fast forward to this June, when Spears stood before a judge pleading her case, begging for an end to the “abusive” conservatorship she had been enslaved under.

Her testimony shocked all and revealed that Jamie not only held control of her $60 million fortune but that she had also been drugged, forced to take birth control and compelled to work.

“He loved the control [he had] to hurt his own daughter, one hundred thousand percent,” she said during her hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court.

“I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK, and I’m happy,” she sobbed. “I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized.”

“I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry. It’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day,” Spears continued. “I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive. It’s my wish and my dream for all of this to end.”

Despite all the family and legal drama, Britney’s life seems to be in a really great place. She recently got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari and even more recently shared a rare update on her on "extremely independent" sons Sean and Jayden with a post on Instagram.

Opting not to share a photo of them for their own privacy. Brit Brit opted for an image of a quote that reads, "There is nothing stronger than the love between a mother and a son,” alongside a heartwarming message about her two boys.
