UPDATE: Ari was ADOPTED!

Ari was adopted!
Meet Ari! Ari is a year-old cat looking for a forever home at the SPCA of Texas. She is a Domestic Shorthair mix with striped grey fur and large luminous green and yellow eyes. She is still a tiny little thing weighing only 5 pounds. Ari came from an animal cruelty case in Kaufman County. She can be a bit shy at first but after a warming-up period will be more than happy to get some serious chin-scratching done. It might also be helpful to have another cat in the house to help her relax and get used to a new environment. At the beginning of her new journey, she may want to hide a bit and hopefully, her new parents will be patient with her. Ari is currently at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas and can be visited any day without an appointment.

Ace
UPDATE: Ace has been adopted
Meet Ace! He is an adorable pup who will give your heart a royal flush. Ace is a mixed breed and a larger dog at 49 pounds. He’s got a very attractive coat of taupe fur and a white underside and chin. He’s an enthusiastic little fellow, but he’s not too hard to handle at all. He has no special needs as far as the home he goes to. He’d love to have a big yard to play around in, but as long as his parent takes him for regular walks he should do just fine. Ace will require a foster period because he is still under veterinarian care for heartworms. He is doing just fine, and having a calm, quiet home to relax in during the healing process is imperative. Ace is housed at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so an advanced appointment will be necessary to meet him.

Anikan
Meet Anikan! This guy won’t be too good at handling light sabers, but he can light up a heart in an instant. Anikan is a big ole’ boy at 63 pounds and pretty energetic too. He is a Rottweiler mix with black fur and tan highlights. Unlike most doggies, Anikan likes to take baths and he loves being brushed even more. Anikan might do best as an only dog, and for certain any other dogs in the home should come in for a meet and greet. Anikan also suffers from a bit of arthritis and will need to be on anti-inflammatory medications for life. So if there is someone out there who is looking for a pet who may not be a contender for the doggie Olympics, Anakin might do just fine. He is housed at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas. No appointment is necessary to meet him.

Missy was ADOPTED!
Meet Missy! She is a charming little lady who is waiting at the SPCA of Texas for the right adopter to discover her. She is a mixed breed dog who weighs 48 pounds and is just under three years of age. Missy has a tan coat on the top and a white coat on the bottom, and two huge puppy dog eyes up front. Missy is a sweetheart but she can be a little shy upfront. It would be best for her to come into a home as a second dog, giving her a friend to help her get her confidence up. Missy came to the SPCA of Texas from an animal cruelty case, and a foster-to-adopt arrangement is necessary to make sure the fit is right. Missy is waiting at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas and can be visited any day between noon and 6 p.m.
Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and an FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag, and a free leash.
The Jan-Rees Jones Animal Care Center is open to visitors seven days a week from 12-6 p.m. Appointments are available for select foster animals. Please browse available animals at spca.org/findapet and visit spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.
KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.
