In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, Newsradio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.
KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlight the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.
UPDATE: 8.30.22 Blaze has been adopted and in a forever home!

He is a Domestic Shorthair mix who is just over 7 years of age. He has striped gray fur with a lighter underside and weighs in at 11 pounds. Despite his fiery name, Blaze is a rather chill guy. He likes pets and cuddles and is pretty tolerant of having other cats around. He is not a very picky kitty, and any loving and calm environment would be a very appreciated home for him. Blaze was brought to the SPCA of Texas as a stray from Ellis County. Common with many stray cats, Blaze is FIV-positive. FIV is a completely manageable condition for cats, but it does mean that Blaze would need to be the only cat in the home unless any other cats were also FIV-positive. There is no appointment necessary to visit Blaze, he will be waiting in the cat rotunda for visitors on any given day.

Meet Eliza!
UPDATE: Eliza has been adopted!
Fans of big fluffy-furred doggies will adore Eliza. She is a Great Pyrenees mix with black, tan and white fur. She is just over a year old and already weighs over 57 pounds. Eliza was brought to the SPCA of Texas by Dallas County Animal Services after being found wandering alone. She was underweight and had a few bumps, scratches and fleas. Eliza was brought back up to speed pretty quickly by the SPCA of Texas staff. Now she is looking for a place to be the playful pup she is. Eliza needs to be the only dog in the home. Eliza should not be loose in a dog park, so a home with a securely fenced backyard would be ideal. Eliza is available as a foster-to-adopt puppy, giving both Eliza and her new people the time to make sure there is a perfect match.

Meet Molly!
UPDATE: Molly has been adopted!
She is a 4-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed dog who tips the scales at 77 pounds. She has a short black coat, with a tiny bit of white thrown in the mix. Molly is a large dog, but she believes she is a cuddly pup. She is not one for high octane frolicking. Molly is more of a chill character. She will occasionally prance about the yard or get a bit excited when she sees an old friend, but Molly likes to take it easy and enjoy life one day at a time. She is a curious explorer who likes to sniff out all the comings and goings in the neighborhood. More than anything, she likes attention from her favorite person, and a few tasty treats thrown in are appreciated too. Molly generally does well with other dogs, so bring in any four-legged friends to meet her prior to adoption.

Meet Becky!
She is a 2-year-old Terrier, Pit Bull mix waiting for a forever home with the SPCA of Texas. Becky has white and tan fur and weighs 41 pounds. She would really like the chance to be her normal playful puppy self. Becky came from a cruelty case, so she can be very timid at first. She is more comfortable with women and can warm up to men over time with a little patience and a few treats in hand. Once she feels secure and safe, her true beautiful personality – and wiggles – comes out. Becky would probably do well with dogs and would like to meet any children over 5 years old prior to adoption. Becky is available under a foster-to-adopt option to make sure there is a paw-fect fit. All medical and behavioral support is provided by the SPCA of Texas during their trial adoption period.
Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.
