'In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.
KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.
Meet this week's featured Pet Pal, Fonzi

Fonzi is a 9-year-old male Pit Bull mix who probably also has Lab and maybe even Shepherd in there somewhere! This gentle and sweet guy loves to meet new people and is calm but also has a playful side. He'll make a great family pet! He is deaf, and he’ll happily show his new family how smart he is by how well he responds to treats to sit and maybe even shake hands sometimes! Please bring any current canines and any kiddos out to meet him to make sure everyone is a great fit. He’d love to meet you and show off just what a loving dog he is. Just swing by the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas any day between the hours of noon and 6 p.m. He is also eligible for our Seniors for Seniors - If you are 65 or older and adopt a dog or cat over the age of 7 years, the adoption is free
Meet MaiGai!

Meet MaiGai! He is a big ole’ German Shepherd mix hoping to find a good forever home with the SPCA of Texas. MaiGai has the classic shepherd coat with big, rounded ears. He is just under the 100-pound mark and is almost 9-and-a-half years old now. Don’t let his age fool you, he still has a good bit of pep in his step. He does enjoy a good romp in the play yard or a brisk stroll about if a walk is on the agenda. MaiGai came to the SPCA of Texas as a stray at the very end of 2022. He is now housed at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him.
Meet Prince

He is a handsome little Pittie looking for a healing foster or a foster-to-adopt arrangement with the SPCA of Texas. Prince is a very down-to-earth guy for a dog with such a name. He’s 9 years old, and while he still loves to get out and run or roll in the grass, Prince is an older dog and he is developing some hip issues that need medical care. Under a foster program the SPCA of Texas will cover all the costs of his medical treatment. The foster need only provide care and the love a doggie deserves. Prince is currently at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary.
Meet Millie

She is an adorable little Labrador Retriever mix who is hoping to catch the eye of a happy family at the SPCA of Texas. Millie is a youngster and just spent her very first birthday in a shelter. She’s a bigger dog at 54 pounds, but she is quite the affectionate girl who loves to share snuggles and kisses. She’s an energetic play partner for other dogs or kiddos, and she has a very sweet disposition. And don’t forget an amazing pair of ears there! Millie is currently housed at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary to meet her. Swing by and she’ll be waiting.
Meet Dehya

She is a super-sweet young lady waiting for a forever home with the SPCA of Texas. Dehya is a Domestic Shorthair mix with an unusual coat of many colors that is just dazzling. Dehya is just under 2 years of age and is a dainty 8 pounds. She came to the SPCA of Texas as a stray and had kittens. The kittens are now cared for and Dehya needs to ind a good home of her own. Since she was on her own for so long, it takes a minute or two for her to trust a new person. When she does, it’s cuteness galore from there on out. Dehya is housed at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center.
KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster, and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.
