In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.

KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.

This handsome dude is Hapee! He’s a happy-go-lucky guy just looking for love! He has lots of tail wags and silly antics to help win over his human pals, too. Aside from his charms, have you noticed his good looks? He’s the complete package of great personality, fun and handsome. He can't wait to be your leading man. He’d like to meet potential doggie friends before they all head home. If you are interested in meeting Hapee, come on in. The SPCA of Texas is open noon-6pm every day. That’s at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas. Learn more about him here: https://spca.org/adoptable/hapee/.

Meet Rachel! She is a wonderful, young dog looking for a forever home with the SPCA of Texas. Rachel is a Labrador Retriever mix who is just over a year-and-a-half old and weighs a dainty 26 pounds. She is covered in a beautiful jet black coat which is reported to be at the highest levels of softness. She is currently in foster care, so an appointment will be necessary to meet her, but it will be more than worth the effort. Her foster reports that she is a very well-behaved little lady who can turn up the accelerator when it’s time to play. She gets along well with kids, other dogs and even the occasional cat.

Meet Potion! He knows all the secret ingredients for a fun day in the park. Potion is a year-and-a-half old blender full of breeds, but the end result is a really cute dude. He weighs 56 pounds, so he’s kind of a larger dog. He’s covered in a white coat with big gray patches just all over. Potion is a playful guy and he’s got a lot of energy to burn. He loves to play with toys and spend time with his favorite people. Because of his size and energy level, it is advisable to bring any children under 10 years old to meet him at the shelter before an adoption takes place. Otherwise, Potion is one of those dogs who seems to get along with everybody.

Meet Adrian! This little lady has one of those smiles that just makes you start to chuckle. She is a Terrier/Pit Bull mix who is 2-and-a-half years old at 56 pounds. She has a white coat with big brown patches in back, and little brown spots on the top of her head and ears. Despite that goofy grin, Adrian is kind of a quiet girl and needs a little time to warm up to new people. Once she’s comfy though, her affectionate side comes out and it is definitely worth waiting for. Other than that, she gets along well with other dogs and kids too. Adrian is housed at the Dallas Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary.

Meet Catillia! She is an older lady looking for a home to spend her golden years in. Catillia is a 13-year-old Domestic Shorthair mix. She has a white coat emblazoned with gray and tan patches and weighs in at 9 pounds. She came to the SPCA of Texas with her two daughters after her former owner was not able to care for them. She is a sweet cat who is affectionate but is a little on the shy side when first meeting someone new. One of Catillia’s daughters (Precious) is also still in the shelter, so a real cat-lover might want to pick up both! She is housed at the Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary.

KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster, and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.

Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
